  • Always carry an umbrella:it is a great item to take on any day out with you. So why not buy one from one of the oldest umbrella shops in the world, James Smith & Sons.   • Get an Oyster Card for the best value travel in London

 

  • stand on the right on the escalators or risk getting trampled by Londoners

 

  • Most of the Museums are free to go it... so make the most of them

 

  • Don't use the Underground too much... try to use the buses or walking to see the best of the city

 

  • Watch out for the worst of the rush hour between 8-9am and 5-6pm everyday

 

  • Avoid tourist traps and follow a local to the hidden pubs, bars and restaurants that the city offers

 

  • Take a boat trip to see the City from another angle. There are  jet boats and more sedate cruisers

 

  • Don't use illegal mini-cabs on the street... jump in a black cab or go to an authorised taxi office

 

  • London is open 24hrs a day, so if you're feeling  jet-lagged head into Soho  or the Brick Lane bagel bakery

 

  • Don't worry if you forget to bring  hats, gloves, jackets... London has so many great shops you can always pick up some great pieces here!

 

  • If you're ever stuck for conversation with a Londoner, then just mention the weather: it is guaranteed to induce a lengthy discussion

 

  • The London Underground can becomeextremely hot in the summer so try to stay above ground and walk if possible... if you do have to go down then take a bottle of water!

 

  • A man bored of London is bored with life... With so many things to do, come rain or shine, it makes London one of the world's top year-round destinations!
